Activity 1:

Directions: Listen to Victor Borge explain his system of "phonetic punctuation" here. What do you make of this? What kind of relationships can you make between the spoken and printed punctuation? Will you look at end marks differently in the future?

Activity 2:

Take a look at some passages from James Joyce's classic work Ulysses. What do you make of what you read? Why do you think he uses punctuation the way he does? What would be different about the book if he used it "correctly"?
