Computer Hardware for the Classroom

Chapter Overview

This chapter discusses major input and output devices, and how each works. Input devices such as the keyboard, mouse, touchpad, optical mark reader, scanner, digital camera, videoconferencing camera, and handheld electronic organizers are described. Output devices discussed include printers, monitors, projectors, and scan converters. Commonly available storage devices presented are the floppy disk, Zip drive, Jaz drive, hard disk, and optical disk. Specific criteria for choosing appropriate hardware for the classroom are explained.
