September 11 Annotated Video Transcripts

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, government leaders and others used speeches and presentations for several purposes -- to inform the public about past events and future threats, to persuade the nation to support anti-terror measures, to calm fears, to praise heroes, and to inspire hope and courage. A sampling of these public statements is given below in the transcripts of three excerpts, accompanied by commentary. You can view videos of all three on the SpeechMate 2.0 CD-ROM.
