Internet Exercises

Student Instructions:

Go to the Mars, Inc. M&M's ® Factory Tour web site at http://www.m-ms.com/factory/ and click on "The Tour" button to learn how "M&M's"® are made. After the tour, answer the following questions:

  1. Assuming that only one product, say "M&M's"® Plain Chocolate Candies, is made in a given Mars factory, would the company be more likely to use job-order or process costing? Why?
  2. Assuming that Mars, Inc. does use process costing, what work-in-process accounts might be used in the M&M ® manufacturing process? Identify and describe each; do not combine any distinct processes.
