Nanomedicine is one of the most excited fields in modern medicine. Build on the atomic scale, powerful computers could manufactured so small, that sevral hundred would fit inside a human cell. If scientists combine microscopic motors, gears, and cables with powerful microscopic computers, they can create a new class of materials. These programable materials, called "nanite", could have many medical uses. Medical nanite could be guard the body and destroy any foriegn invaders such material would end the common cold, but also dangerous diseases such as cancer and AIDS. Nanite could also do what the plastic surgeon does, only better and faster. People could redesign its own bodies from head to toe. If the air became poisonous nanite could provide respiration requirements to keep him alive for hours. Normally fatal accidents could walk away from, thanks to a range of safety devices possible only with nanotechnology. In fact, nanomedicine has the potential to make human beings virtually immortal.
