If you were asked to think of some creative professions, what kind jobs would you think of? If you are like most people, you would list professions such as artists, writers and inventors. However, creativity is not limited to those who can paint, write or create new machines. All of us have the ability to be creative. It doesn't matter if you are a business person or an electrician. Creativity is simply the ability to come up with new ways of looking at things. For example, suppose a plumber is faced with a challenging plumbing problem and manages to solve it in a unique way. Is this an example of creativity? Of course it is. Or suppose someone works in a mailroom in a large company and discovers an innovative and more efficient way of sorting the mail. Is this creativity? Yes, it is. So, the next time someone asks you if you are creative, think about the number of times that you have come up with fresh solutions for everyday problems and say, "Yes, I am."
