Organizing Your Work

Concepts

The following concepts will be introduced in this lab:

  1. Hierarchy: The graphic representation of the organization of folders on a disk is called a hierarchy.
  2. File and Folder Names: When a file or folder is created, it must be assigned a file name that identifies its contents.
  3. Copy and Move: All Windows applications include features that allow you to copy and move selected information from one location to another.
  4. Drag and Drop: Common to all Windows applications is the ability to copy or move selections using the drag and drop feature.
  5. Editing: One of the advantages of using a computer is that you can easily change or edit your documents.
  6. Saving Files: When you save a document you are working on, a permanent copy of your onscreen document is electronically stored as a file on a disk.
