Set the chart mode to star atlas. Set the field to 45°. Set
the deep sky display to show only open clusters. Center
the display on the Pleiades (a deep sky object) and then
zoom in until the circle outlining the cluster nearly fills
the field. Click on all the stars shown for the cluster and
record the hottest main sequence spectral type you find.
(Recall that main sequence stars are designated V following
the spectral type.) Using Table 19.1 and Equation
19.5, estimate the age of the Pleiades from the spectral
type of the hottest main sequence star in the cluster.
