Christa McAuliffe and Sally Ride

Christa McAuliffe died when the Challenger exploded on January 28, 1986. The McAuliffe/ Challenger Center was established in her honor and provides teacher training and curriculum for science teachers as well as scholarships and workshops for students.

Sally Ride is Professor of Physics at the University of California, San Diego, and director of the California Space Institute. Through projects such as EarthKAM and Imaginary Lines, she mentors students interested in science and technology.
