5. Biological therapies do treat symptoms. For some illnesses the relief of the symptoms may be all that is required. Most successful therapies are a combination of the medical model with some type of therapy. When symptoms are somewhat relieved, a client may be better able to focus on the underlying problems associated with the illness.
