p. 99. The caption for Figure 6.3 in the first printing of the 5th edition is incomplete. The rest of the caption (following "Note that lines on") is:

".... the two grids are parallel near the equator but not at high latitudes. This is because most latitude and longitude lines are projected as curves, whereas UTM lines are drawn as straight lines on that projection. The point in the shaded area is located in Figure 6.4."

p. 107, column 3, line 8. The word "horizontal" should be replaced with "vertical."

p. 114, problem 28g, under Devils Tower is an interesting place. The given URL is no longer active. Instead, go to http://www.nps.gov/deto.

p. 114, problem 28g, under Where is the magnetic pole today? The given URL is no longer active. Instead, go to http://gsc.nrcan.gc.ca/geomag/index_e.php.

p. 114, problem 29e, "You may want to compare your route and mileage with that determined from the Driving Directions link at the website maps.yahoo.com/maps."

Chapter 7

p. 128, problem 4b. The URL has changed a bit. Delete ":80" from the URL so it reads http://satftp.soest.hawaii.edu/space/hawaii/index.html.

p. 128, problem 4c. In the URL, "msus." should be deleted so that the URL should read http://www.winona.edu/geology/imagearchive/remoteimages/remoteimages.html.

p. 235, Figures 13.1A-D. The lowermost parts of these illustrations should be colored green.

p. 245, problem 4.
