1. Go to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association at http://www.noaa.gov/. Select "Current Watches/Warnings" and answer the following questions.
a. Identify the different types of warnings shown and the regions where they are located.
b. What type of precipitation is likely to occur in the regions where these warnings are located?
c. Select "National Maps." Describe the regional distribution of high and low pressure systems. How will they affect weather in your region? Click on the region where you live and read the forecast to see if you are correct.
2. Go to the Weather Underground site at http://www.weatherunderground.com and click anywhere on the small world map to get global temperatures. Pick one continent, other than North America, and look at the temperature pattern.
Does the pattern you see relate to the world climate map in Figure 4.33?
What physical features (mountains, deserts, etc.) can you identify on the temperature map?
