In all the chapters the Case Studies represent situations similar to those that the
medical assistant may encounter in daily practice. Students
are encouraged to consider the case study as they read each chapter. As a medical assistant, you are reviewing the charts as you prepare for the next day's appointments, and
you notice that a female patient who is scheduled for her routine gynecological checkup has a flag on her
chart because she has bilateral cataracts. As you read this chapter, consider the following questions: 1. What are bilateral cataracts, and why would this condition be a consideration when you come in contact with this patient? 2. What instruments should be assembled for the physician to use during the examination? 3. What disposable and consumable supplies may reasonably be anticipated for use? 4. What measures can you take to ensure the patient's comfort and safety? |
