Sara’s Italian journey has led her to Tropea, a popular seaside resort on the Tyrrenian Sea in Calabria. She is conversing with some Italians at the beach, who are suggesting that she go visit some of the main attractions of the region as well as those in Basilicata, Calabria's neighboring region. Matera, the main city in Basilicata, is famous for its sassi, a part of the city built in the rock that still resembles an ancient town. The writer Carlo Levi described the region’s poverty during the Fascist period in the novel Cristo si è fermato a Eboli (Christ stopped at Eboli). In Calabria, apart from the beautiful beaches, Sara plans to visit the Archaelogical Museum in Reggio Calabria that houses the famous Bronzi di Riace, two bronze Greek statues, found in the sea in the early '80s.
