Use the globalEDGE™ site to complete the following exercises:
1. Prior to internationalizing your corporate legal representation
firm, management is hoping to better understand
which countries efficiently enforce legal
contracts. The Doing Business Indicators follow statistics
on many countries and regions of the world to
provide users with an indication of the economic and
legal conditions worldwide. Locate the three measures
used by the resource to measure how different
countries are enforcing contracts. Which countries
rank as the five most and least efficient legal systems
for each measure? Do any countries appear multiple
times across these rankings? If so, list the countries
that would be most and least appealing for your firm
to enter. If not, are there specific regions that are
represented in your analysis? From this information,
develop a brief report for management that outlines
your recommendation for an internationalization
strategy.
2. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) is a comparative
assessment of a country’s integrity performance.
Provide a description of this index and its
ranking. Identify the five countries with the lowest
and the five with the highest CPI scores according
to this index. Do you see any trends between CPI
scores and the level of economic and social development
of a country?
