Financial Accounting
John Irvine

Preface

John Irvine has developed this new book in response to changes that have evolved from the implementation of the new TAFE training packages. John Irvine has been involved with TAFE for many years, and is currently the Manager of Accounting and Finance Programs, Business Services Division, NSW TAFE, making him well placed to address these new issues.

Previous teaching and learning materials have been redeveloped to suit the new approach of course requirements and students’ needs. The design of the book and the extent of the content now reflect the features of financial accounting focussed on by the training package, particularly the development of students’ competencies. An integrated workbook keeps all the student’s materials together and allows for easy reference in the context of the topic being studied.

Comprehension and revision are aided by the inclusion of Learning outcomes and Checklists for each chapter. Activities, Competency reviews and additional questions appear throughout the book to test students’ understanding as they complete each topic. Solutions to all Activities and Competency reviews are included at the end of each chapter for student self-assessment. Solutions to additional questions are available to the lecturer in the Instructor’s Manual, which also includes Lesson Plans and Overhead Transparency Masters.
