Case Studies & Debriefings

DEBRIEFINGS TO PART-END CASE STUDIES

There is a case study at the end of each part of the book:

Part 1: Buzzard Ltd
Part 2: Arthurstone
Part 3: Computacore Ltd

These are a little more weighty than the chapter-end exercises; in addition, they integrate many of the topics included in the chapters in each part of the text to which they relate, although not exclusively. Each case study is therefore intended to give students an opportunity to apply the principles and techniques from each part of the book, and to develop the analytical skills and judgement required to deal with real-life business problems. Each case study requires students to undertake numerical-based questions and give their opinion based on their analysis of a situation. The questions do not necessarily have one 'right' answer. Debriefings that include calculations and notes relating to how each case study may be approached are provided as appropriate.

Debriefings to these case studies are not provided in the Student Centre of this website.

ADDITIONAL CASE STUDIES

Case studies are a little more weighty than the chapter-end exercises; in addition, they integrate many of the topics included in the chapters in each part of the text to which they relate, although not exclusively. Each case study is therefore intended to give students an opportunity to apply the principles and techniques from each part, and to develop the analytical skills and judgement required to deal with real-life business problems. In recognition of the importance of case study material, we have provided a further case study for each part of the book.

These additional case studies are also provided in the Student Centre of this website.
