About the Author

Stephen L. Harris, is currently professor emeritus and former department chair of Humanities and Religious Studies at California State University, Sacramento. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University, where he held a Woodrow Wilson fellowship. The author or co-author of ten books, he has written on a wide variety of topics, ranging from classical mythology, to biblical studies, to popular texts on geology and ancient history for National Geographic Society Books. He received the annual Faculty Research Award from California State University, Sacramento, and has lectured before many professional groups, including the National Association for the Advancement of Science, and appeared on national television programs, including four interviews with Ted Koppel on ABC’s Nightline.
