John M. Reier

John M. Reier worked for GEDTS from 1998 until 2001 as a consultant for the Language Arts, Reading Test. For 30 years, Mr. Reier taught writing and Advanced Placement English courses for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). He also worked for MCPS in the development of countywide and local school language arts examinations. Currently, Mr. Reier is an adjunct assistant professor in the Arts and Humanities Department at the University of Maryland’s University College, where he teaches introductory and advanced writing classes. He also taught a graduate English methods course at Trinity College in Washington, DC as part of the Teach for America program. For over 30 years, he has been a test consultant to schools and students for SAT test preparation. Mr. Reier holds a B.S. in English Education from Mount St. Mary’s College and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola College of Maryland.

JoAnn Yaworski

Dr. JoAnn Yaworski teaches developmental reading, study skills, and teacher education classes in the Department of Literacy at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She has been teaching reading, study skills, and other academic disciplines including history, world cultures, English, and the Russian language for public and private high schools, colleges, and universities for over 20 years.

Dr. Yaworski received her Ph.D. in Reading and Educational Psychology from the University at Albany, the State University of New York in 1996. Her dissertation concerning student success won the "Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award" from this same institution.

Dr. Yaworski's research interests include student success and teaching reading and study skills with technology. She has been a frequent presenter at conferences sponsored by the College Reading & Learning Association, the College Reading Association, and The National Association of Developmental Educators. Her research and practical application articles have appeared in the Journal of College Reading & Learning and the Journal of Developmental Education.

Dr. Yaworski is the content provider for over ten Web site companions to best-selling reading and study skills textbooks, and she is currently in the process of writing a series of college reading textbooks called Reading Between the Lines.
