Objectives (Instructors): The objectives of the tutors are to provide:
  1. Teaching materials to facilitate class learning and discussion of different business writing formats.

  2. Marking rubrics to assist the instructor with a standard format for evaluating course assignments.

  3. Editing documents to assist instructors as they teach and promote student awareness of the necessity of good editing and proofreading skills.

  4. A full set of documents to help the instructor in teaching units on writing emails, memos, letters, reports, and employment documents, for informative/positive, negative, and persuasive messages.


Objectives (Students): The objectives of the tutors are to:
  1. Provide the student with reference documents to assist in their learning of how to write, critique, and assess their own writing style.

  2. Provide the student with examples of a full process of writing various business documents, as practice in testing situations, and for future business reference.

  3. Teach the student how to write 'A' papers for business communication courses.


Included for each Tutor:

 AssignmentA scenario fitted to the focus of the tutor, provided in assignment or testing question format.
 'C' PaperFrom the assignment instructions, this is the paper the student would hypothetically prepare for a testing or hand-in situation.
 'C' Paper: RubricA completed marking rubric for the above written 'C' Paper; reflecting a "real" life in class marking situation. Includes references to the Editing Document.
 'C' Paper: EditingThe same 'C' Paper again, with annotated notes, and links to the Editing Document, so the student learns how to correct, edit, and proofread future documents.
 'A' PaperThis is the revised 'C' paper, or an example of an 'A' paper the student would hypothetically prepare for a testing or hand-in situation.
 'A' Paper: RubricA completed marking rubric for the 'A' Paper; reflecting a "real" life in class marking situation. Includes references to the Editing Document, if needed.
 5-Word Editing RuleThis is a PPT presentation dealing with editing, specifically as it concerns wordiness/conciseness in a document.
 Editing DocumentEvery tutor is provided with tutor focused links to this editing document. Editing and proofreading information is included, along with text page references, and links to online grammar practice sites.
