Using Foreign Language Characters
If the puzzle you are completing includes a foreign language (French, German,
Latin, Spanish) you can add foreign-language characters. You can use one of the
two methods shown below to add the foreign language characters.
Adding foreign-language characters using the palette:
- Use the foreign-language character palette, which will automatically appear,
and make sure your insertion point is located where you want the
foreign-language character to be inserted.
- Double click the appropriate character.
Adding foreign-language characters using shortcut keys:
The keyboard shortcut for any foreign-language character consists of two sets
of keystrokes—one for the diacritical mark and one for the letter.
- Enter the keystroke for the diacritical mark. For example, to create an umlaut
press Ctrl + Shift + :.
- Enter the keystroke for the letter.
NOTE: To view the keystrokes for the foreign-language characters, display the
foreign language palette as
described above.
To turn off the foreign-language character palette choose Hide Language Characters from the Edit menu.
