I recently met a young man, 14 years of age, who was a victim of a robbery. He and his friends were robbed at knifepoint by other teens; iPods and cellphones were taken. The offenders were subsequently caught and charged. All of the stolen items were returned and there were no injuries to the victims. When I asked the victims if they knew what was happening or how the case was resolved they did not know. As well, the victims did not seem to be interested in how the matter was resolved.

Comment on how you think you would react as a victim in similar circumstances. Would you want to know how the matter was resolved? Comment on how the retributive system of justice excludes victims from the process.
