Linear Equations in One Variable

Chapter 2 - Linear Equations in One Variable

This chapter begins with a discussion of systematic procedures for finding solutions to equations, making use of the Addition and Multiplication Properties of Equality; first, with equations requiring only a single application of a property of equality, then with more general linear equations requiring more than one application of a property of equality. Equations having infinitely many solutions, or no solution, are considered. You will then be taught to rewrite and evaluate formulas. Translation of verbal expressions into equivalent algebraic expressions is discussed. Finally, you will be taught to set up and solve several types of applications using the algebra of linear equations.
