Linear Equations in Two Variables and Their Graphs

Chapter 4 - Linear Equations in Two Variables and Their Graphs

Ordered pairs and the rectangular coordinate system are introduced. You will be taught to plot points and to graph linear equations by various means, including the use of intercepts. Then the concept of slope is introduced, and you will be taught to graph a line given its slope and a point on the line. Parallel lines and perpendicular lines are discussed. This is followed by a discussion of equations of lines in standard, slope-intercept, and point-slope form. Various applications are given, and the chapter ends with an introduction to functions, as expressed by formulas, tables, and ordered pairs.
