Supplementary Materials

Integrated Science is accompanied by a variety of supplementary materials. The instructor’s manual for the text can be found on the Online Learning Center. The Online Learning Center is a fully interactive website. A test bank containing multiple choice and true/false test items is available as a computerized test bank.

Laboratory Manual

The laboratory manual, written and classroom tested by the authors, presents a selection of laboratory exercises specifically written for the interest and abilities of nonscience majors. There are laboratory exercises that require measurement, data analysis, and thinking in a more structured learning environment. Alternative exercises that are open-ended "Invitations to Inquiry" are provided for instructors who would like a less-structured approach. When the laboratory manual is used with Integrated Science, students will have an opportunity to master basic scientific principles and concepts, learn new problem-solving and thinking skills, and understand the nature of scientific inquiry from the perspective of hands-on experiences. There is also an instructor’s edition lab manual available for professors upon request.

Instructor’s Manual

The instructor’s manual, also written by the text authors and other contributors, provides suggested themes for integrating the content of the text, a chapter outline, an introduction/summary of each chapter, suggestions for discussion and demonstrations, and multiple choice questions (with answers) that can be used as resources for cooperative teaching. It also includes answers and solutions to all end-of-chapter questions and exercises not provided in the text. The instructor’s manual can be found on the Integrated Science Online Learning Center.

Transparencies

A set of 100 full-color transparencies features images from the text. The images have been modified to ensure maximum readability in both small and large classroom settings.

Instructor’s Testing and Resource CD-ROM

The Instructor's Testing and Resource CD-ROM contains the Integrated Science Test Bank (over 700 test questions in a combination of true/false and multiple choice formats) within the Brownstone DIPLOMA© test generator for both Windows and Macintosh formats as well as Word and PDF files of the Test Bank, the Instructor’s Manual, and the quizzes from the Online Learning Center. The Word files for the Test Bank, Instructor’s Manual, and OLC quizzes can be used in combination with the Brownstone software or independently.

Digital Content Manager

The Digital Content Manager contains the four-color illustrations from the text and a selection of animations. These digital assets are contained on a cross-platform CD-ROM and are grouped by chapter within a user-friendly interface. With the help of these valuable resources, instructors can create customized classroom presentations, visually based tests and quizzes, dynamic course website content, and attractive printed support materials.

Online Learning Center

For Instructors: This text-specific website includes the fully downloadable Instructor’s Manual, jpeg files for figures from the text, and over 200 animations that can be integrated into your own lecture, web links, an "Ask the Author" message board, and many other features. In addition, instructors can gain access to PageOut™, McGraw-Hill’s solution for helping instructors create their own web pages. PageOut™ offers a series of templates. Simply fill them with your course information and click on one of 16 designs. The process takes under an hour and leaves you with a professionally designed website. PageOut™ is so easy and intuitive, it’s little wonder so many of your colleagues are using it. For Students: Students can use the Online Learning Center to study! It contains scorable practice quizzes and crossword puzzles that use key terms and definitions from the text, as well as a career center, animations, and web links. Accessing the Online Learning Center will also allow the student to use PowerWeb newsfeeds, NetTutor, and Exploring Physical Science. For students wanting additional help, they can post a message to the "Ask the Author" message board, which is mediated by the authors. Check it out today—new features are always being added!
