Case Study: Fantasy Motors

Karl Walters has discovered a promotional presentation that Lucky Lou had previously put together to use this month. Karl was planning on running the same specials, so he is able to re-use Lucky Lou’s presentation. However, Karl feels the original presentation could use some embellishments. In the following case problems, assume the role of Karl Walters and perform the same steps that he identifies. You may want to re-read the chapter opening before proceeding.

  1. Karl opens the PP03XTRA02 presentation and saves it as "Monthly Specials" to his personal storage location. After viewing the presentation in Slide Show view, he decides that this presentation calls for an alternate design template. Karl decides to apply the "Globe" design template. Next he deletes the car graphic on the title slide because is obscuring some of the text. Figure 3.8 provides a before and after snapshot of the first slide. Karl saves the revised presentation.

  3. Karl next edits the title slide to read "Fantasy Motors" instead of "Lucky Lou’s Car Dealership." He then applies bold formatting to the text "High Quality Used Automobiles" on slides 2 and 3. Next, Karl deletes the clip art on slide 2 and substitutes a different car. He then saves the presentation as "Monthly Specials — version 2" to his personal storage location. Figure 3.9 provides an example of slide 2 once it has been edited.

  5. Karl decides to lower the price of the car advertised on slide 3. He first deletes the text " Only $6,430 " from slide 3. Next, he selects the Explosion 2 AutoShpe from the Callouts submenu and inserts it on the lower right corner of the slide, partially obscuring the clip art. Karl changes the background color to red and inserts the text "Only $5,500" in the explosion object. After ensuring that the word wrap feature inside the AutoShape is selected, he changes the font color to white and resizes it to fit the AutoShape. The completed slide is shown in figure 3.10.

Finally, Karl saves this presentation as "Monthly Specials — version 3" to his personal storage location.
