Katy Kerr’s Juice Company

Katy Kerr has been invited to take part in a trade show. She has put together a presentation highlighting her company’s attributes. She would like others to review the presentation before heading to the trade show. In this exercise, assume the role of Katy and perform the steps that she identifies. You may want to re-read the chapter opening before proceeding.

  1. Katy opens the pp06xtra06.ppt presentation and saves it as "Trade Show" to her personal storage location. Katy will send this to several reviewers. On the first slide, she inserts a comment for reviewers to read. The comment says: " Sheila — I need you to insert that Specs chart on the last slide. " The first slide of her presentation appears in Figure 6.4.

Katy sends the presentation off to be reviewed. ( Note: You don’t actually have to send the presentation.) She saves the presentation and leaves the presentation open for the next exercise.

  3. Sheila receives the presentation with Katy’s note. She saves the presentation as "Trade Show Revised" to her personal storage location. Next, she opens the pp06xtra07.xls Excel file and copies the table from it to the last slide of the presentation. Since this data is not likely to change in the near future, Sheila performs a simple paste. After resizing and moving the table, her final slide now appears similar to Figure 6.5. She also deletes the comment that Katy added to the first slide. She saves the presentation and sends it back to Katy. Keep the presentation open for the next exercise.

  5. Katy receives the presentation and notices that there is something different about it (besides the addition of the table). She decides to compare this presentation to her original. She merges the "Trade Show Revised" presentation and the original "Trade Show" presentation. She realizes that what she noticed was the missing comment from the first slide. She accepts that change as well as the addition of the table. She saves this presentation as "Trade Show Final" in her personal storage location. She closes PowerPoint, has a quick glass of O.J., and prepares to hit the road.
