Performing More Integration Tasks
Case ProblemsDownload as a Word document: Case Problems Ch02 (26.0K) Case Problems: Dels Delicious CookiesDel has now gained a lot of experience using Offices
integrating techniques and he is eager to continue practicing.
Assume the role of Del as he creates a sign. - Del wants to create a one-sheet sized sign for the store.
He used to use Word for this, but has since grown fond of the
PowerPoint design templates. He decides to create the sign
first in PowerPoint and then resize the design and print from
Word. First, Del opens the sign design, INT02XTRA03.ppt and
saves it as "sign" to his personal storage location.
Del first copies the slide in the
Outline
pane and pastes it into a new Word document. (
Hint:
Use Paste Special.) He then uses the resize handles first to
stretch the design horizontally and then vertically. His
document now appears similar to Figure 2.6. Figure 2.6 PowerPoint slide reshaped in Word | (50.0K) |
Del then notices the rather glaring spelling error. He
double-clicks the embedded slide to correct the spelling of
"duble" to "double." He notices that, when in edit mode, the
slide reverts back to its original shape. When he exits back
to word by clicking outside of the embedded slide, the slide
reverts to the shape he gave it. Del saves the Word document
as "Peanut Butter Double Chip sign" to his personal storage
location and exits Word and PowerPoint. Data File: INT02XTRA03 (19.0K) - Del likes to use PowerPoint for employee meetings. He
usually outlines these meetings in Word and, rather than retype
the information, exports the outline to PowerPoint.
Del opens the INT02XTRA06.doc Word file and saves it to his
personal storage location as "Meeting Outline." He converts the
outline to PowerPoint and applies the "Capsules" design
template. He corrects the first slide by changing it to the
Title layout and deletes the text placeholder on the final
slide in preparation for the next exercise. Finally, he saves
the presentation as "meeting" to his personal storage
location. Data File: INT02XTRA06 (24.0K) - Del has been waging an advertising campaign to boost sales
of chocolate chip cookies. His employees have been in on the
campaign with a suggestive sales contest. Del has determined
that the team has met its sales goals and wishes to present
this information at the next meeting with the help of a
PowerPoint slide show. He has created a graph in Excel that
tracks the sales of chocolate chip cookies over the last six
months and wants to use it in the slide show.
Del opens the INT02XTRA04.xls Excel file and saves it as
"Cookie Graph" to his personal storage location. He copies the
Excel chart to the clipboard and then switches to the last
slide of the PowerPoint presentation from the previous
exercise. After Del embeds the chart, he moves and resizes the
object so that it looks similar to Figure 2.7. Figure 2.7 Embedded Excel chart in PowerPoint | (50.0K) |
Del saves the revised presentation as "meeting - revised"
to his personal storage location. He then closes both
PowerPoint and Excel. Data File: INT02XTRA04 (14.0K)
