As a result of studying Chapter 11 you should be able to:

Analyze the undesirable present situation, the obstacles, and the goal of any problem.

List the characteristics any problem has and explain their importance when developing a procedural outline for group problem solving.

Plan procedural outlines for the group's problem-solving process to ensure that no step crucial to the quality of the solution is overlooked.

Understand the importance of being clear about the criteria or standards by which the group will judge possible solutions.

List the five components of the general Procedural Model of Problem Solving (P-MOPS), explain the importance and nature of each step, and be able to adapt the model for discussing any sort of problem.

Use the Single Question format to help a group engage in the vigilant interaction necessary to arrive at the best possible solution to a problem.

Understand the ways computer technology can help and hinder group problem solving.
