Go to the Internet site http://www.workteams.unt.edu/newsletter/Archive/v32.html which offers an issue of the Work Teams Newsletter generated by the University of North Texas. You should see several articles presented in this electronic newsletter.

Provide the titles of three newsletters.

Scroll down to the article titled “Dealing with Human Speed Bumps” and read it. Then answer the following questions:

Have there been times in a social group or study group where you served as a “human speed bump?” Please describe the situation and the outcome.

Looking back on that situation, was there some approach mentioned in the article that someone in your social group or study group could have taken to calm your opposition? Please describe.

In our interactions with social groups, most of us have encountered “human speed bumps,” members of the group that consistently question the group’s decisions. What specific tips presented by the article may work to encourage those people to participate more fully with the group?
