A company involved in the manufacturing of paper from recycled materials is interested keeping fungi out of the fresh pulp before it is made into cardboard. Any evidence of fungal contamination could result in early decay of the product made from the pulp. Bacterial contamination is usually not a problem and can be alleviated with preservatives. Come up with a quick chemical test to detect the presence of fungi in the pulp. Use the fact that fungi have unique a unique molecule not found in bacteria and other microbes.
