The circulatory system consists of the heart and blood vessels. It is responsible for sending blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen and to the digestive system to pick up nutrients in order to deliver oxygen and nutrients to all the organ systems in the body. This system also circulates waste products to certain organ systems so that these wastes can be removed fromthe blood. This chapter discusses the lymphatic system because it also circulates fluids throughout the body.
