1. A weblog or blog is an online journal published for others to read. Blogs are updated frequently and are often personal reflections about travel, work, or relationships. Popular blogs are listed at either http://bloglines.com/topblogs, http://weblogs.about.com/od/bestblogsindices/. Read two or three blogs that interest you. How do these journals communicate assumptions about identity? Do you see indications of allness, sterotypes, or identity tags? How do blogs blur the line between front and back contexts?

2. The Internet offers many opportunities for you to project an image of yourself by using the words of others. Sites such as Sparks.com and Getacard.com offer to send personal cards for any occasion in your name through the U.S. mail. Log on to one of these websites. Does it use identity tags to organize its messages? Are identity tags legitimate ways to present an authentic self to others?
