Exercise 5.5 (22.0K)

Use the following information, which is from a story by The Associated Press, to write an inverted pyramid news story. The dateline on the story should be TAYLORSVILLE, N.C.
There has been a fire in a house. The house is in Taylorsville, N.C., which is located about 50 miles west of Winston-Salem. Taylorsville is in Alexander County.
The fire’s cause was not immediately known. You got this information from Patricia Lee of the Alexander County Communications Center.
Six people were killed when the fire tore through the house. Officials said a newborn baby was among the dead.
You also interviewed a neighbor, John McWhorter. He told you that a woman living in the one-story brick house ran to his home to call 911 about 4 a.m.
The dead reportedly were aged 2 days to 20 years.
McWhorter told you that the woman told him that six other people were in the house.
Here’s a quote from McWhorter: “When I got up there, it was burning so bad, I mean you couldn’t even get close to that house. The heat was something fierce.”
McWhorter also told you that Ronnie Shue’s family lived in the house. He said Shue was called home from his third-shift job.
Here’s another quote from McWhorter: “He (Shue) came home and I tried to calm him down, of course. Then the EMS people carried him and her off.”
