Insurance Companies

This chapter examined the activities and regulation of insurance companies. The first part of the chapter described the various classes of life insurance and recent trends in this sector. The second part discussed property–casualty companies. The various lines that comprise property–casualty insurance are becoming increasingly blurred as multiple activity line coverages are offered. Both life and property–casualty insurance companies are regulated at the state rather than the federal level.
