We noted that there is not one best theory of motivation and that managers can use different theories to solve various types of performance problems. The purpose of this exercise is for you to identify motivational techniques or programs that are being used at different companies.

Begin by visiting the website for the Beyster Institute. The page is located at http://www.beysterinstitute.ucsd.edu/ The Beyster institute helps managers to implement equity-based compensation and employee ownership. To begin your search, go to the "Other Resources" link at the top of the page and choose "Case Studies" from the left menu. Pick two case studies and analyze them using the questions below.
