Feature Summary

Chapters begin with Tanto per cominciare, a series of personalized communicative activities that introduce students to the theme of the chapter and help them recall previously learned vocabulary and structures.
Author-written dialogues that feature a recurring cast of characters highlight everyday practical situations that emphasize the use of contemporary Italian. All dialogues target the grammar structures contained within the chapter, along with the vocabulary, expressions, and cultural information pertinent to the chapter’s theme.
Antecipazioni grammaticali sections precede grammar presentations and feature several interactive and contextualized activities designed to familiarize students with the new grammatical structures and encourage students to seek logical solutions.
In pratica activities follow the grammar presentations in the Strutture sections, and are structured to promote self-expression and fluency. These contextualized activities align with the chapter’s theme and range from form-focused to open-ended, creative role-plays.
Parliamo un po’! sections recycle newly acquired vocabulary and expressions through a series of discussion activities that encourage self-expression and critical thinking in Italian.
The Ripassiamo! end-of-chapter review section provides students with interactive and open-ended activities that focus student attention on the main points of the chapter.
The Scriviamo! section closes the chapter, and helps students develop higher-level writing skills through theme-related topics, and the writing process is guided from first draft to final revision.
A Manuale di esercizi provides an abundance of practice activities, both oral and written. All the activities are designed to reinforce the material presented in both the Lingua and Cultura texts.
This Online Learning Center provides free access to the Audio Program that accompanies the Manuale di esercizi, as well as the Instructor’s Manual and Audioscript for instructors. The Audio Program is also available for purchase on audio CD.
