  1. Input processing as it relates to second language acquisition is defined as the process of SLA that describes how learners initially perceive and process linguistic data in the language that they hear.
  2. The term communicative value refers to the meaning that a particular form contributes to overall sentence meaning.
  3. Processing Instruction is a type of grammar instruction that consists of three components: (1) giving learners information about a particular linguistic structure or form; (2) informing learners of a particular processing strategy that may impede them from processing the form correctly; and (3) engaging them in structured input activities that push them to process the form correctly in order to get meaning.
