Anatomy and Physiology of Reproduction and Related Technologies in Farm Mammals

Chapter Summary

Farm mammals must be born before they can grow and develop to the age at which they can provide food, service, and pleasure for humans. For that reason efficient reproduction is one of the most important aspects of animal production. Profitable livestock production requires that a maximal number of young be marketed per breeding female. Therefore efficient livestock production requires knowledge of the production and management of farm mammals as well as of their anatomy, physiology, genetics, and nutrition and of disease and parasite control among them.
