  • Instructor’s Resource and Solutions Manual: Includes the solutions to all discussion questions, end-of-chapter questions, and problems. In addition, chapter outlines are provided to assist instructors in preparing for class.
  • PowerPoint presentations: These slides deliver a complete set of slides covering many of the key concepts presented in each chapter.
  • Check figures and Excel spreadsheet exercises and solutions are also included: These allow students to develop important spreadsheet skills by using Excel templates to solve selected assignments.
  • The test bank contains a variety of questions ranging from multiple-choice questions to short answer questions to detailed problems. Every test bank question is linked to one of the numbered learning objectives that provide assurance of learning ready activity. This is an important element of many accreditation standards and the Tenth Edition of Hoyle is designed specifically to support instructor’s assurance of learning initiatives. Every test bank question also includes the level of difficulty, topic area, Bloom’s Taxonomy level, AACSB and AICPA skill area.
  • EZ Test Online: The OLC provides a link to the EZ Test website at www.eztestonline.com. Instructors will log in with the same username/password used to order comps on mhhe.com. Once logged on, instructors search for their book-in-use and create their test online, within the EZ Test system. Since the system is internet based, the instructor’s account and the exams housed within their account are accessible where ever they can access the internet (home, office, or the classroom). EZ Test can search the test bank by learning objectives, level of difficulty, topic area, Bloom’s Taxonomy level, AACSB and AICPA skill areas which provides an engine for targeted Assurance of Learning analysis and assessment.

OTHER TECHNOLOGY SUPPLEMENTS

Kaplan CPA Simulations The McGraw-Hill Companies and Kaplan have teamed up to bring students CPA simulations to test their knowledge of the concepts discussed in various chapters, practice critical professional skills necessary for career success, and prepare for the computer based CPA exam. Kaplan CPA Review provides a broad selection of Web-based simulations that were modeled after the AICPA format. Exam candidates need to practice with simulations prior to their exam day to become familiar with the item format, the research database, and the spreadsheet and word processing software used exclusively on the CPA exam (not Excel or Word). Practice with the Kaplan CPA Review simulations will ensure that the candidate is familiar with the functionality of the simulations, including the tabs, icons, screens, and tools used on the exam. CPA simulations are found in the end-of-chapter material after the very last cases in Chapters 1, 2, and 8.

ALEKS for Financial Accounting ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) delivers precise, qualitative diagnostic assessments of students’ knowledge, guides them in selecting appropriate new study material, and records their progress toward mastery of curricular goals in a robust classroom management system. ALEKS interacts with the student much as a skilled human tutor would, moving between explanation and practice as needed, correcting and analyzing errors, defining terms, and changing topics on request. By sophisticated modeling of a student’s knowledge state for a given subject, ALEKS can focus clearly on what the student is most ready to learn next. When students focus on exactly what they are ready to learn, they build confidence and a learning momentum that fuels success.
