The marketing plan is a key component when planning your business. The marketing plan consists of four strategies – product, place, price and promotion.

In groups of two or three, create an e-business that you would like to run. Choose a product or service you will sell, select a name for the business, and decide who will be the president of the company. Then, develop your marketing plan for the coming year.

Include the following information in the plan:

  • A description of your target market by age, sex, profession, income, and educational level
  • Identify your competition
  • Describe your product or service. Provide a visual.
  • Create a mock up of your Web site or if possible, create a sample Web site
  • Develop your price structure
  • Select your advertising and promotional materials

Use the Internet to conduct the necessary research, examine demographics, and find samples of promotional materials you might use. Look for further information on marketing plans at BusinessWeek.com. Present the marketing plan in a binder or folder. Make sure it looks professional.
