Take the Proverbs and Culture Test

Discussion This exercise illustrates Hofstede's cultural value dimensions-- individualism-collectivism, power-distance, and masculinity-femininity, and Edward Hall's context styles of communicating in different cultures. Consider how difficult it can be for visitors to figure out what a different culture believes. Have empathy for immigrants to your own country who may still be in the process of learning the culture's values, which may be very different from their own native culture. If you have never heard of some of these countries, you're not alone, but now might be a good time to get out the atlas and look them up!
