At last count there were six multiple choice questions in the test bank dealing with the Johari Window. In all the years I’ve taught OB, I’ve always included at least one question on this model. Unless you are very lucky, only those who bothered to read and understand the Model and the exhibit on p. 80 ever get these questions right.

In the Johari Window, disclosure of information to colleagues results in

Remember that everything you do with respect to the Johari Window will have an impact on the Open area. Now read the question carefully and ask yourself: Would disclosure of information increase or decrease my Open area? You are essentially revealing stuff about yourself to someone else so… Ok, now you can eliminate answer ‘C’ because it claims that it would decrease the Open area – clearly that is incorrect. You can also eliminate ‘B’, because as stated earlier everything one does affects the Open area. Besides, how can you increase your Unknown area by disclosing something you know? That doesn’t make any sense. The Open area isn’t even mentioned in answer ‘B’. The correct answer is ‘E’.
