Nenna L. Bayes, BBA, M.Ed., has coauthored and reviewed various titles within the medical administrative fields. She earned an associate of applied business degree, a bachelor of business administration degree, and a masters of arts in education from Morehead State University. During her tenure, she has taught numerous courses within the administrative and medical administrative curriculum. She is a professor in and the program coordinator for the Office Systems Technology program at Ashland Community and Technology College in Ashland, Kentucky, and has received many teaching excellence awards. Prior to teaching, she worked in various medical office environments. Additionally, she is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). She lives in Flatwoods, Kentucky, with her husband and is blessed to have two children, their spouses, and one granddaughter. She is actively involved in music and enjoys camping in her leisure time. Bonnie J. Crist, M.Ed., CMA (AAMA), is a healthcare professional focused on educating adult learners. She is currently the medical program director at Harrison College in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she manages both the Medical Assisting Associate’s Degree Program and the Medical Office Assisting Diploma Program. Bonnie also teaches online for Harrison College. Bonnie began her career as a certified medical assistant, and she quickly moved into management and training. Since her initial experience of training medical externship students, Bonnie has focused on the importance of soft skills or professionalism in healthcare, as well as the importance of understanding how the adult learner learns best. She earned her associate’s of applied science degree in medical assisting from Indiana Business College, her undergraduate degree in healthcare management from National American University, and her master’s degree in healthcare education from A. T. Still University. Bonnie currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her family. Her interests include spending time with her family, reading, writing, and volunteering. Karonne J.
