On becoming Carl Rogers.

Kirschenbaum, H.. (1979). On becoming Carl Rogers.. New York:: Delacorte Press..
The best and most complete source for biographical information on Rogers, Howard Kirschenbaum's book adopts a highly favorable attitude toward the father of client-centered therapy and person-centered theory.

In this single volume, Howard Kirschenbaum and Valerie Henderson have managed to include nearly all of Rogers's most important writings, including his 1959 chapter "A Theory of Therapy, Personality, and Interpersonal Relationships, As Developed in the Client-Centered Framework."

Carl Rogers and the culture of psychotherapy. In G. A. Kimble & M. Wertheimer (Eds.), Portraits of pioneers in psychology, Vol. 1 (pp. 244-258).

Lakin, M.. (1998). Carl Rogers and the culture of psychotherapy. In G. A. Kimble & M. Wertheimer (Eds.), Portraits of pioneers in psychology, Vol. 1 (pp. 244-258).. Washington, DC:: American Psychological Association..
During the early 1950s, Martin Lakin was both a student and a client of Carl Rogers. In this chapter, Lakin gives a brief account of Rogers's life and works.

A theory of therapy, personality, and interpersonal relationships, as developed in the client-centered framework. In S. Koch (Ed.), Psychology: A study of a science (Vol. 3) (pp. 184-246).

Rogers, C. R.. (1959). A theory of therapy, personality, and interpersonal relationships, as developed in the client-centered framework. In S. Koch (Ed.), Psychology: A study of a science (Vol. 3) (pp. 184-246).. New York:: McGraw-Hill..
Although this chapter is included in the Kirschenbaum and Henderson (1989) book of readings, it is important enough to recommend again in the event that the Kirschenbaum and Henderson book is not available. Rogers remained disappointed that this frequently referenced chapter was not more widely read.
