Exercises (Exercises, applications, examples)
The introductory writing exercises are fundamental to the course, and an instructor who did not assign at least one per section would be wasting a valuable resource. The text has lots of the usual type of exercises that have populated traditional calculus books for decades. These are pleasantly supplemented with more technology oriented or reform oriented problems.

Not only are there sufficiently many and an adequate variety of applications, but the applications are often interesting, even fascinating. I particularly enjoyed treatment of the Magnus force on a spinning ball, and I'm sure that students will find it equally interesting.
