Ali - This chapter reminded me how much I treat my computer like
it is alive. Its personality is beyond what I make it by talking or yelling
at it; when I write papers its true identity comes out. My computer, or
shall I say, my animated paper clip buddy, is my friend. I call him up
every time I write, so I am not alone. He keeps me company by swaying
side to side, occasionally raising his eyebrows. I even have the option
to "animate" him further and make him do funny tricks when I need a break
or a laugh. But the best part about him is he does not let me go wrong.
I can ask him questions when I don't know what to do--which is often because
I am a hesitant user, easily confused.
But not everyone shares my sentiments about my paper clip friend. My roommate,
Liz, hates him. That's because she is an aggressive computer user who
doesn't want a cute, polite friend. She doesn't want to ask him question;
she wants her problems solved automatically by an assertive machine.
