Ethnocentrism

1		A researcher is interested in how individuals’ religious attitudes may affect their recovery from surgery. The main variable used to classify participants into groups for comparison is their religious affiliation (e.g., Catholic, Protestant). The researcher’s questions include whether individuals in different religious groups have different views of illness and health, and whether speed of recovery differs for members of these groups.
2		A researcher is interested in the obstacles faced by physically disabled individuals in their everyday lives. The researcher interviews a sample of individuals about using their wheelchair in public places. Based on this survey, the researcher concludes that disabled individuals often face obstacles that limit their ability to lead productive lives.
