Unfortunately for Wesley, he is at high risk for developing alcoholism. He should carefully consider the consequences of alcohol use. Wesley may choose to avoid alcohol completely or consume it in moderation only. It may be helpful for him to recognize the signs of alcohol abuse to prevent any problems before they begin.

Since much of the young girl's small intestine was removed, many of the nutrients she consumes are escaping absorption. It is likely that only a highly refined diet or intravenous nutrition therapy will succeed in keeping her adequately nourished.
