You are a first year sixth-grade teacher in a school district with large numbers of students who are historically low-performing. As you prepare for the school year, the principal informs you and other teachers that reading will be strongly emphasized every single day.

You decide that you will work hard with some of the marginal readers who are just barely failing the state's proficiency tests. In fact, you select two students, one male and one female, who you carefully observe over a three-week period. Both are very restless and move a lot while reading and seem to have difficulty completing lengthy assignments. Based on this information, you decide to try some approaches that will enhance both the students' focus and persistence. Describe what you might do.
